A two-wire remote control/monitor apparatus and a method for using the same are provided to enable an operation center to perfectly control and monitor a transceiver positioned in a remote site by using a single 2-wire dedicated line. A receiving amplifier(2a) amplifies a voice signal received from an RF transceiver, and then transmits the amplified signal to transmission lines(L1,L2). A PTT tone attenuator(12a) selectively attenuates only signals corresponding to a PTT tone band among output signals of the receiving amplifier between the receiving amplifier and transmission lines. A switching circuit(14a) separates PTT tone attenuators(,4a), a PTT tone detector(7a), a control data detector(9a), the input/output stages of an alarm and monitor data processor(11a) into a voice control system and a monitoring system.
