The system has a set of fixedly mounted housings (1) with camera openings (3), where the housings are arranged at respective locations on a road. A set of measuring inserts are alternatively inserted into the housings such that a camera lens is positioned behind the camera opening for forming a common device for traffic monitoring with the respective housing. A polarization filter (4) covers the camera opening, and is rotatably arranged at the housing such that the filter is rotated in an angular position that is determined for specific inserting conditions at the respective location.
