An apparatus for moulding articles from a plastic strip 15 comprises axially movable die members 8, 8<SP>1</SP> which are carried by rings 5, 51 and successive pairs of which close on the strip, means being provided to guide the strip between the dies so that material is blanked out adjacent to one edge of the strip. The pairs of dies may vary in size. The guide means comprises wheels 27, 28 which ensure correct vertical alignment and rollers 25, 26 which ride the upper edge of the strip to align the lower edge with respect to the dies 8, 81. The rollers 25, 26 are carried by a frame 37, 38 supported by one end of a shaft 30, the other end of which carries a cam which co-operates with pins 31 extending inwardly from the ring 5. The pins 31 individually associated with . the pairs of dies and are so located as to correctly align the strip with respect to the dies. The rings 5, 5<SP>1</SP> are located in an insulated housing having an openable viewing window which allows the dies to be cleaned and sprayed with silicone prior to closing. The rings 5, 5<SP>1</SP> are mounted on a shaft 16 rotatable in bearings within a sleeve through which cooling air is blown.</p> |
