PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily manufacturing lens free from eccentricity and thickness unevenness without using a specialized pellet material and a specialized mold and to provide an apparatus for practicing the method. SOLUTION: The lens molding apparatus 1 comprises filling a spherical pellet material a on the cavity face 21c recessed in a lower mold 21 in cross section of circular arc-like, closing an upper mold 22, and then heating, compression-molding and cooling the closed mold 2 in each stages 42... while transferring, wherein a refilling work of the pellet material a is performed by lifting the upper mold 22 in a stand-by position 41 before transferring to each stages 42... after closing the mold, rolling and moving the pellet material a to the center of the cavity face 21c of the lower mold 21 by its own weight, and again slowly closing the upper mold 22.
