PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of improving detection accuracy of a dot region. SOLUTION: From a curve (a solid line of an upper graph) indicating the relation between dot lightness (being lightness determined from a white-and-black ratio of a dot image constituted of white pixels and black pixels and being indicated by a numerical value of 0% (image constituted of black pixels only) to 100% (image constituted of white pixels only)) and average gradation (being average gradation of a dot region when the dot image is read by a scanner, and being indicated by a numerical value of 0 (perfect black) to 255 (perfect white)), data (a single chain line of the upper graph) of an input characteristic modulation table for linearly correcting the curve are determined. Image data of an input object to be processed are corrected by the data of the input characteristic modulation table.
