PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a decrease in accuracy of correcting a defective pixel and a pixel with a foreign matter.

SOLUTION: An image processing device removes the influence of shade of a foreign matter adhering to the front of an image pickup device from an image captured by the image pickup device. The image processing device comprises: a defective pixel information storage section for storing information on the position of a defective pixel in the image pickup device; a defective pixel correction section for correcting an image signal from a defective pixel by an image signal from a surrounding pixel based on the information; a foreign matter adhesion detection section for detecting foreign matter information; a foreign matter information storage section for storing the foreign matter information; a foreign matter correction section for correcting an image signal from a foreign matter pixel that is in the shade of a foreign matter by an image signal from a surrounding pixel, based on the foreign matter information; and a control section for storing information on the defective pixel in the foreign matter information storage section as a foreign matter pixel and then deleting information on the defective pixel from the defective pixel information storage section, when the surrounding pixel used for correcting the defective pixel is affected by the shade of the foreign matter.
