PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-convenience guard device and guard method, capable of preventing a false notification, and allowing easy guard release when the need arises. SOLUTION: In this guard device 100 having a sensor 101 detecting abnormality of a detection area, and transmitting an alarm to a monitoring center 200 connected by a network 300 when the sensor detects the abnormality, an equipment information acquisition part 105 acquires an equipment ID and operation information showing the effect that equipment is during operation, a detection information acquisition part 103 acquires a sensor ID and detection information sent by the sensor 101, and a transmission/reception part 107 does not transmit the alarm, when the operation information is acquired, when the detection information and the sensor ID are acquired, and when the acquired sensor ID accords with the sensor ID corresponding to the equipment ID stored in a correspondence database 109.
