PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate type hydraulic pump capable of being manufactured at low cost, and maintaining a high abrasion resistance free from causing any abnormal wear even when the swash plate makes swing motions in a high-pressure, continuous load condition. SOLUTION: The swash plate type hydraulic pump 20 has a shaft 21, which is borne on a pump housing 22 and a cover 23 through bearings 24 and 25 and is furnished with a cylinder barrel 27 fitted rotatably through a spline 26. On that side of the cylinder barrel 27 where a piston 29 comes into and goes out, the swash plate 33 is installed where the head of the piston 29 is arranged slidable through a piston shoe 32, and the swash plate 33 is supported tiltably by a spherical shaft part 34a mounted on the pump housing 22 and a spherical hole guide part 34b to be fitted on the shaft part 34a.
