<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter capable of securing good engine startability at low temperature and shortening start time at normal temperature. <P>SOLUTION: This starter is provided with an engagement member 34 concentrically provided on an outer circumference of two internal gears 25, 29 used for two sets of reduction gear, a magnet coil 35 driving the engagement member 34 to an axial direction anti-motor side, and a return spring 37 energizing the engagement member 34 to an axial direction motor side. The engagement member 34 energized by the return spring 37 moves to the axial direction motor side and mechanically engages with a first internal gear 25 under a condition where the magnet coil 35 is turned off. Consequently, rotation of the first internal gear 25 is regulated and first reducing ratio is selected. When the magnet coil 35 is turned on to drive the engagement member 34 to the axial direction anti-motor side, rotation of a second internal gear 29 is regulated by engagement with the engagement member 34 and second reducing ratio is selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
