PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support mechanism with a simple structure, by easily regulating directionality of the whole surface between upper-lower parts of a column, on the support mechanism particularly suitable for the column of a square column shape having particularly the directionality on a column surface and having a cross section of a square shape, in the support mechanism of a temporary column temporarily fixedly erected between a floor surface and a ceiling surface in a building. SOLUTION: By the support mechanism composed of a first box body opening upward, formed in a cubic shape having the bottom and having an installing means to the column in a bottom part, a cap-shaped second box body covering this first box body and a winding spring extending by repulsing after contracting the length, and having a temporary fixing means for storing the spring so as to move upward by releasing from the bottom part of the first box body, having the length exceeding the depth of the first box body in the extension and capable of maintaining the positional relationship between the two box bodies against resiliency of the spring when pushed down by contracting the length of the spring by putting the second box body on the first box body, the directionality of the whole surface between the upper-lower parts of the column can be regulated with the simple structure.
