摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve homogenization by restraining a collision of fuel with intake valves in homogeneous combustion, while maintaining ignitability in stratified combustion. SOLUTION: The injection direction of the fuel injected from a fuel injection valve 18, is pointed to the electrode vicinity of a spark plug 16. The fuel injection valve 18 is provided with an electrode lower side nozzle port having the axis pointing to a space outside of a movable range of both intake valves 12, and in close vicinity to an under surface of an electrode of the spark plug 16, when looking at the tip side in the fuel injection direction from at least the fuel injection valve side, and an electrode under side nozzle port having the axis pointing a space in the movable range of both intake valves 12, and in close vicinity to the side of the electrode of the spark plug 16, when looking at the tip side in the fuel injection direction from the fuel injection valve side. The electrode lower side nozzle port is set so as to be positioned above a shade part upper surface of the intake valves 12 in the middle of an intake stroke of increasing a lift quantity of the intake valves 12. A fuel injection timing control means for setting the fuel injection timing, is constituted so that the fuel injection timing in the homogeneous combustion is set in the middle of the intake stroke.
