A device for insufflating the interior of the gastric cavity of a patient. The device includes an elongated member having a distal end for insertion into the gastric cavity, and a plug removably attached to the distal end of the elongated member. The plug is capable of sealing the pyloric sphincter so as to prevent passage of fluids therethrough.
