The input pen has a grip portion and the front portion of the input pen is separated from the grip portion by a sterility barrier. An input portion (47) has a light source (42) that emits infrared light (43). The input portion is configured for contacting a touch sensitive surface. The input portion has one dimensional and two dimensional monitor contact sections. The elastic contact sections in the input portion resiliently change from one dimensional state to two dimensional state based on force applied to the input portion.
