<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor device that can scan an extremely large sensor area and has an extremely small necessary mounting space. <P>SOLUTION: The optical sensor device can be coupled to a window 14, especially, the windshield of an automobile. The optical sensor device has a sensor unit 12, which has an emitter 26, a photodetector 28, and an optical conductor unit 30. Through the optical conductor unit 30, a light beam 34 emitted by the emitter 26 is coupled within the window 14, released from being coupled with the window 14, and directed to the photodetector 28.
