A shock absorber is provided to prevent the damage due to the deformation by shorten the exposed length in which the dust cover is raised when compressing force is enlarged. A shock absorber the piston rod(54) is movably installed on cylinder; the insulator(70) for uniting the piston rod with the car body; the bumper rubber is fixed to the inner side and is installed at the lower part of insulator and circumference is extended as the bottom side; the fixing unit(78) in which the extension(79) expanded to the outer side is formed in the extended bottom; and the dust cover(58) in which the top is supported to the extended part of the fixing unit.
