PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door opening/closing mechanism which can smoothly open/close sliding doors even if the operator operates the sliding doors at any height thereof. SOLUTION: The sliding door opening/closing mechanism is provided for opening/closing a front opening section 2a of a storage main body 2 by the right and left sliding doors 3R, 3L which form a flat plane when closed. In the mechanism, a pair of upper and lower guide means G, G' for guiding the sliding door 3R (3L) so as to open the front opening section 2a of the storage main body 2 by pulling any one of the sliding doors 3R (3L) frontward, horizontally sliding the same, and thereafter superposing the same on an outer surface of other sliding door 3L (3R), are arranged in spaces S, S' defined by flat partition plates 4, 4' at upper and lower portions inside the storage main body 2. Herein the pairing upper and lower guide means G, G' arranged on each sliding door 3R (3L) are connected together by a connection rod 22, and both the guide means G, G' are interlocked with each other.
