<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition system igniting air fuel mixture in a combustion chamber using corona discharge. <P>SOLUTION: This ignition system includes an electrode 40 provided in a combustion chamber 50, an electric circuit supplying the electrode with wireless frequency electric power, and an earth at least locally formed by a wall of the combustion chamber. The ignition system is constructed to ionize air fuel mixture by difference of wireless frequency voltage generated between the electrode and the earth, and to eventually generate wireless frequency electric field in which the air fuel mixture is burned.
