摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) polyketide synthase (PKS) system isolated from or derived from non-bacterial organisms, homologues thereof, isolated nucleic acid molecules and recombinant nucleic acid molecules encoding biologically active domains of such a PUFA PKS system, to provide methods of making and using such system for the production of bioactive molecules of interest, and to provide new methods for identifying new bacterial and non-bacterial microorganisms having such a PUFA PKS system. <P>SOLUTION: There provided are a nucleic acid sequence encoding at least one domain of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) polyketide synthase (PKS) system derived from Thraustochytrid microorganism, a recombinant microorganism and a recombinant plant transfected by the recombinant nucleic acid molecule and a method for selecting the microorganism and the plant, and a method for producing a polyunsaturated fatty acid using the microorganism. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
