PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology to flush a head in a relatively short time, regarding a fluid jet device. SOLUTION: The fluid jet device includes: the head to eject fluid droplets toward a prescribed processing surface position; a fluid recovery part to recover the fluid ejected from the head; and a distance adjusting part to adjust a distance between the head and the prescribed processing surface position by moving at least one of the head and the prescribed processing surface position. In the fluid jet device, upon flushing the head, (i) the head is disposed above the prescribed processing surface position, (ii) the distance adjusting part adjusts the distance to a prescribed length so that the fluid ejected from the head may not reach the prescribed processing surface position, but may drift in a gap between the head and the prescribed processing surface position, and (iii) the fluid recovery part recovers the fluid drifting in the gap.
