PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take a perfect shot without fail even when no camera image is indicated on a monitor screen during checking of recorded images or the like. SOLUTION: A motion vector detection circuit 24 detects the presence of motions between frames from output images of a camera signal processing circuit 16. When motions are detected, a microcomputer 26 instructs a compression/extension circuit 18 and an HDD 32 to compress and record camera images which are output from the camera signal processing circuit 16.
