PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer of a spherical roller bearing capable of, even if divided into a plurality of segments, preventing a shaft (a solar ball) from becoming unable to perform smooth swinging and rotating movements without resulting in the interference between segments due to the swinging and rotating movements of the shaft (the solar ball) even if the retainer moves freely by the swinging and rotating movements of the shaft (the solar ball). SOLUTION: There is provided the retainer of a spherical roller bearing which is formed in a hollow spherical body and has an opening on at least one side and further has a number of holding holes for holding independently a number of planetary balls. The retainer comprises a plurality of the segments having a form produced by dividing a maximum diametrical portion or a dividing surface containing an adjacent portion of the maximum diametrical portion of the retainer formed in the hollow spherical body, junctures formed in the plurality of the segments, and joining members for joining the junctures mutually.
