MAP DATA DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AND MAP DATA UPDATING METHOD

A system for distributing map data by reducing a stop time of a navigation function in a terminal and a map data updating method thereof are provided to use the map data in a map data distribution system using a DBMS(Database Management System) even if a long time is needed for generating index. A differential data recorder records differential data between the map data before update and the updated map data to each section when the map data is updated. A database stores the map data delivered from a data distribution server. An updated data accumulator stores the updated data until the updated map data is reflected to the database. A data distribution server transmits the differential data of the updated section to a terminal when the terminal requests the map data of the updated section. The terminal generates the updated data by applying the received differential data to the map data stored in the database.
