PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which the gift of unnecessary information can be suppressed to a consumer.

SOLUTION: The electronic shelf label 5 is placed corresponding to merchandise to display merchandise information regarding the corresponding merchandise. The electronic shelf label 5 includes a display 51 and a control part 53 for controlling the display 51. The control part 53 switches a screen displaying merchandise information such as a selling price 6c etc. correponding to a signal from the outside of the electronic shelf label 5 and a screen displaying a device code that is hard identification information unique to the elctronic shelf label 5 to display on the display 51.
