<p>A storage device comprises a recording/reproducing section for positioning a head at any position of a storage medium and recording/reproducing data and a nonvolatile memory to which a parameter storage area is allocated. An adjusting section adjusts various parameters necessary to control a positioning controlling section and the recording/reproducing section. A parameter save processing section saves the adjusted parameters obtained by the adjusting section in the nonvolatile memory during adjustment. At the completion of the parameter adjustment, leaving minimum adjusted parameters necessary to access a system area of the storage medium , the parameter save processing section saves the remaining adjusted parameters in the system area of the storage medium. Thus, a free space in the parameter storage area of the nonvolatile memory is formed. A free space processing section uses the free space of the nonvolatile memory as a storage area for firmware, logs, and so on other than the parameters.</p> |
