PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle speed control device capable of performing deceleration control in which any sense of incongruity is hardly given to a driver even if brake overriding is established during the automatic deceleration control. SOLUTION: The vehicle speed control device starts the automatic deceleration control at maximum permissible deceleration G<SB>max</SB>when it is determined that deceleration necessary for reducing a vehicle speed v at a curve starting point to a target speed v<SB>t</SB>exceeds the maximum permissible deceleration G<SB>max</SB>(S103: YES), and completes the deceleration control (S107: YES, S108) when requested deceleration by a brake operation during the automatic deceleration control exceeds deceleration by the automatic deceleration control (when the brake override is established). The deceleration G<SB>ref</SB>necessary for reducing the vehicle speed at the curve starting point to the target speed v<SB>t</SB>is calculated according to a distance d to the curve starting point and the vehicle speed v, and when the requested deceleration is below the deceleration G<SB>ref</SB>, the deceleration control with the deceleration G<SB>ref</SB>is started (S112: YES, S113).
