The invention provides a method to track the calls in a communication system, which comprises selecting a user terminal that exchanges signaling with the network side, and tracing the selected user terminal. Because the user terminal selected to be traced is the one which exchanges signaling with the network side, instead of tracing the user terminal that doesn't exchange signaling with the network side, the invention is always able to attain valuable information, so as to estimate the performance indices of a communication system quickly. The invention also provides an apparatus and an RNC to implement the above method.
