An authentication apparatus and a method for connecting e-mail agent in a portable terminal is provided to share a plurality of e-mail agent data through authenticating process in private network. An e-mail client(100) performs the certificate server and authentication procedure in order to connect to the e-mail agent within the private network. The data synchronization with e-mail agents(130,132,134) is performed in the authentication procedure pass. A certificate server(120) confirms the e-mail client permitted in connection with the e-mail agent. The synchronizing process with the e-mail client confirmed by the certificate server is performed the e-mail agent. A plurality of E-mail agents is to network the grouping and network is constructed.
