<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus and to a method for deforming a deformable mirror. The apparatus (1) comprises a deformable mirror (2) having at least one reflective mirror surface (19), a plurality of electrically activatable actuators (15,16,17), said actuators being linked mechanically to move said reflective mirror surface(s) in order to deform said mirror, and a plurality of photodetectors (8, 10) for converting optical radiation incident on said photodetectors into corresponding electrical signals. The photodetectors, actuators and mirror are mechanically integrated and said photodetectors are individually optically addressable by means of optical radiation (22) incident on said photodetectors and are arranged to provide said electrical signals to said actuators so that said mirror may be controllably deformed in response to said incident optical radiation.</p> |
