The vacuum cleaner includes a suction motor (20) to draw in dirt or dust into a cleaner body (10) through a suction nozzle (1), a dust collecting unit (30) to collect the dirt or dust drawn into the cleaner body (10) and having a discharging hole (31b) to discharge air, and a filter assembly (40) detachably joined to the cleaner body (10) on an air discharging passage between the dust collecting unit (30) and the suction motor (20), and provided as a member separate from the dust collecting unit (30).
