A foothold device for a ship is provided to allow crew to comfortably board a ship by absorbing impact transmitted from a hull when moving outside or boarding to tall ship. A foothold device for a ship comprises a outer cover(11) that surrounds the outermost of a foothold for a ship; and interior foam material(12) designed to facilitate movement of crews or wind resistance; and a leaf spring(9), made of fiber reinforced plastic material of a round type, in order to absorb impact between a foothold and a hull, and keep them in place.
