[Also in Division B8] A method of forming a lined flat tubular carton comprises depositing a strip of glue 12 on one edge of the paper side of the polyethylene and paper liner by a wheel 11, folding said edge over itself by a folder 13, applying a bead of heat-softenable material 15 to the polyethylene side of the opposite edge of the line through a nozzle 14, cutting the liner into separate sheets by cutting rollers 16, 17 and securing said liner to the carton blank by applying strips of adhesive from the roller 23 on to the carton blank particularly along its fold lines. The polyethylene on the folded edge 32 of the liner is heated and a further glue strip is applied to a strip 36 on the carton which come into contact with the bead 15 and the flange 42 respectively when the carton is folded into a tube. A coolant is applied to the inside of the liner 25 directly beneath the area where, on folding, the heat is applied to prevent melting of the polyethylene and wax coating of the paper. |
