The present invention comprises a plant (100), for continuously forming a dimension- reduced elongated metal string (B) from a elongated metal workpiece (A). The metal work piece (A) is covered with a powder lubricant (C) at a covering station (11), and dimension- reduced at a downstream machining station (12). Said covering station (11) is co-ordinated with a high voltage generator (13), which electro-statically charges the powder parts in the lubricant, providing a homogeneous, lubricant cover (C) of said metal work piece (A). The electrostatic charge of the powder parts is allocated an appropriate potential according to the properties of the lubricant and the fact that melting temperature of the lubricant is lower than the temperature in the dimensionreducing machining station.
