An image processing apparatus, an image processing method, an image forming apparatus, an image forming method, and recorded data are provided to overlap main information with sub information by using a screening method when forming a color image, thereby accurately reproducing sub information from printing data in which the overlapped image is recorded. An image input unit(26) inputs main image information. The main image information is defined by the first, second, and third color element information corresponding to at least three colors. A modulating unit(22) modulates a color difference grid pattern by sub information. The modulated color grid pattern, and the first, second, and third color element information are rotated respectively at a preset angle. And the modulated color grid pattern is overlapped with the first, second, and third color element information respectively by an overlapping unit(24). A synthesizing unit(25) synthesizes the first, second, and third color element information overlapped with the modulated color grid pattern to generate color image information.
