An image processing apparatus for correcting image distortion caused by hand trembling and a method thereof are provided to correct the image distortion due to hand trembling while reducing the amount of memory calculation. A reference image obtaining unit(2) obtains two reference images by differently applying a shutter time and an ISO(International Standard Organization) setting value. A color information correction unit(4) corrects color information of an input image obtained by applying a short shutter time among shutter times according to a brightness ratio and a color difference ratio of the two reference images. A noise removing unit(6) removes noise included in the input image based on edge information of the input image. A brightness information extracting unit extracts brightness information of an image in which the color information is corrected based on a brightness histogram of the image in which the color information is corrected.
