A vacuum cleaner comprises an inlet nozzle (202, fig 2), a dirt collection chamber 430 having a chamber opening, and a lid 464 adapted to selectively close the chamber opening. The lid 464 includes a lid passage 480 that extends between a lid inlet 488 and a lid outlet 482, and the lid outlet 482 is in fluid communication with the dirt collection chamber 430. A dirty air inlet passage 466 is fluidly connected between the inlet nozzle (202. fig 2) and the lid inlet 488. A fan is provided and adapted to convey dirty air into the inlet nozzle (202. fig 2), through the dirty air inlet passage 466, through the lid passage 488, and into the dirt collection chamber 430. The lid passage 480 includes a removable portion 490 that can be removed to expose at least a portion of the lid passage to allow removal of obstructions from the lid passage. Also disclosed is a vacuum cleaner that has a plug recess (124, fig 2) to hold a power cord plug (126, fig 2) while it powers the vacuum. |
