An induction cooker has an infrared sensor (10) placed below a top plate (4) and detecting infrared rays radiated from a cooking container (P), a light emission section (42h) for emitting visible light toward the rear side of the top plate (4), and an infrared ray entry section (42e) located, when viewed from above, between the light emission section (42h) and the center (6a) of a heating coil (6). With this construction, emission of light from the light emission section (42h) allows a user to visually confirm that the bottom surface of the cooking container (P) is not positioned over the infrared ray entry section (42e). Since the user can reliably and easily cover the infrared ray entry section (42e) with the cooking container (P) by hiding the light emission section (42h) by the bottom surface of the cooking container (P), a control section (24a) can controls the temperature of the cooking container (P) by detecting the temperature of its bottom surface with high response based on an output signal from the infrared sensor (10).
|
