FIELD: physics; image processing. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to the method of simulating graininess of a film with subsequent decoding of the encoded images. Simulation of graininess of a film is done by compressing video images, with subsequent transfer of the compressed video together with a message, containing at least, one parameter, indicating the initial graininess of the film, and a decoder. The initial graininess is restored in form of an image through simulation by the decoder, of the graininess of the film, based on the content of the message on graininess of the film. One or more parameters of the information on graininess of the film are scaled in accordance with the target size of the pixel unit in the image, taking into consideration the ratios Mt/M0 and Nt/N0. Each ratio is rounded off to the nearest whole number. M0 x N0 represents the initial size of the unit, and Nt x Mt represents the target size of the unit. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency of simulating graininess of a film. ^ 16 cl, 6 dwg |
