A method for synchronizing of image and voice in video phone, and apparatus thereof are provided to minimize an addition of hardware by synchronizing an image data and a voice data using a metering tone. A method for synchronizing of an image data and a voice data transmitted in between a transmitter(210) and a receiver(220) in a video phone comprises the following steps: a step for receiving the image data and the voice data through an image channel and a voice channel; a step for sensing a metering tone from the voice data; a step for counting the metering tone; and a step for determining a synchronization of the voice data and the image data based on a counting result of the metering tone.
