PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback technology with which still image information is played back while being switched and user friendliness is improved. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a playback technology for playing back information from a recording medium wherein the recording medium records thereon a plurality of image information items, display time information corresponding to each of the image information items, recording mark information of image information corresponding to the display time information of each of the image information items, clip information recording a relationship between the display time information of image information and a recording position of the image information on the recording medium, and playback order designation information designating the playback order of the image information items. When retrieving image information, display time information of the image information is found from the recording mark information of the image information, the clip information is used to find the recording position of the image information on the recording medium from the display information time, and the image information is played back from the recording position.
