COLD CATHODE ELECTRON SOURCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a cold cathode electron source which is improved in electron emission efficiency from an emitter and is excellent in luminous efficiency.

SOLUTION: In the cold cathode electron source, the relative dielectric constants of substrate portions exposed between a cathode electrode K including an emitter E causing field electron emission and gate electrodes G1 and G2 controlling electron emission from the emitter E is lower than that of the substrate S.
