A shift control device of the auto transmission is provided to determine the modified amount of the shift schedule based on the engine limit number of rotation. A shift control device of the auto transmission is installed at the auto transmission(3) in which the power is inputted from the engine(1). The shift control device of the auto transmission comprises the shift control character change unit. The shift control character change unit changes the shift schedule in order that the selection shiftgear or the gear ratio of the auto transmission is to be the high side gear step tendency of selection, in case the number of rotation upper value of the engine is limited to the engine limit number of rotation lower than the normal upper value. The shift schedule is changed the shift control character change unit based on the engine limit number of rotation so that the revolution per minute is below than the engine limit number of rotation.
