DOWNLINK RECEPTION INDICATION METHOD IN PACKET BASED MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A down link reception indication method in a packet based mobile communications system which effectively controls the uplink is provided to maintain the synchronization of uplink effectively in case that the terminal does not maintain the synchronization of uplink. A base station assigns the arbitrary contact preamble index. A down link reception indication message including the allocated arbitrary contact preamble index is generated(205). The generated down link reception indication message is transmitted to the terminal(206). If the preamble signal designated with the arbitrary contact preamble index is received as a response, response information about random access is generated.
