<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a pseudo contour phenomenon caused by an insufficient number of quantization bits, without blurring an image. <P>SOLUTION: The invention includes a band pass filter 301 through which a high frequency image signal is made to pass by expansion of the number of bits of an input digital image signal, an amplitude limitation processor 302 which limits the amplitude of the image signal passed through the band pass filter 301 to a predetermined level, a gain adjuster 303 which adjusts a gain of the image signal the amplitude of which is limited by the amplitude limitation processor 302, and a summer 304 which subtracts the image signal output of the gain adjuster 303 from the input digital image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
