PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an onboard imaging system for accurately determining images obtained by the imaging device and displaying a high-visibility image on the display means without providing determination and display imaging devices and also to provide an imaging device constituting this system. SOLUTION: The ECU 3 notifies the imaging device 1 whether to display the image obtained by the imaging device 1 on the display 5. When notified that the image is to be displayed, the imaging device 1 applies image processing such as gain control and edge-enhancement to the image by a signal processing section 11 and sends back the resulting image to the ECU 3. When notified that the image is not to be displayed, the imaging device applies image processing such as conversion from a color image to a monochrome image by the signal processing section 11 and sends back the resulting image to the ECU 3. The ECU 3 displays the gain-controlled and edge-enhanced image on the display 5 and perform various determinations on the color-converted image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
