AIR CONDITIONER AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the freezing of water on the surface of a heat exchanger by energizing or de-energizing an anti-freezing unit according to the operation conditions of the air conditioner. An anti-freezing unit is driven to generate energy for preventing water on the surface of a heat exchanger from being converted into a solid phase if the air conditioner is in heating operation(S4), a compressor is driven for a set time period continuously and the heat exchanger is in the state of anti-freezing conditions(S1-S3). If any one the above conditions is not satisfied, the anti-freezing unit is not driven(S7).
