<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the surface of driving members from being scratched when the apparatus is restarted after, for example, the removal of a jam. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a drive load detecting means for detecting a drive load on each of the driving members such as a photoreceptor 3, fixing means 6, conveying means 7 and transfer means 10 which are driven by driving means.
