<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that corrects read unevenness without preparing a reference sample. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer 1, an image processor 14 generates image data for obtaining an output image for scanner in-surface unevenness correction, and forms the image (S1). A color sensor 3000 detects the image for scanner in-surface unevenness correction transferred to and fixed on a transfer material (S2), and an image signal value and position information thereof are stored (S3). The transfer material where the image for scanner in-surface unevenness correction is formed is placed on a platen glass 202 while directed in a conveyance direction, and read (S5). A read image signal value and position information thereof are stored in a storage device 58 (S6). The image for scanner in-surface unevenness correction is rotated by 90° and placed, and similarly read, and a read image signal value and position information thereof are stored in the storage device 58.
