<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant restraining device, in which the trunk of an occupant is held in a prediction stage so as to restrain the initial move of the occupant, and a normal state is restored when an accident is avoided. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with drive mechanisms 14 and 17 housed in a seat in a driving state to push out bolsters 4 on both side parts of a backrest 2 toward the occupant P when receiving an action command, and actuator bags 18 to expand between the drive mechanisms 14 and 17 and the bolsters 4 synchronously with the drive mechanisms 14 and 17. In accordance with the pushing action of the drive mechanisms 14 and 17, and the expansion action of the actuator bags 18, the occupant P is restrained on the seat 1.
