PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated wire rope for operation, which has improved adhesiveness of a resin coating layer. SOLUTION: The coated wire rope for operation has a resin coating layer 5 on the outer circumference of a core wire rope 4 obtained by twisting a plurality of side strands 2, 3 around a core strand 1, wherein the side strands 2, 3 are composed of multiple kinds of strands having different strand diameters D<SB>2</SB>, D<SB>3</SB>.
