The safety cabinet (10) has a housing (12) that is closed by a door where a closing sampling container (28) is connected to a sampling device (24) in interior (16) of the housing for receiving a sample of the medium from the pipeline in the sampler vessel. The safety cabinet has device for securely closing the sampler vessel after the sampling. An independent claim is also included for a method for the safe withdrawal of samples of gaseous or liquid media from pipelines.
